Fractals of Nature

Something you may not expect from an artist, but I loved maths at school! I loved the security of it, especially when times feel uncertain.  Art has the benefit of no boundaries however I felt I needed some guidance beside my creative intuition this year.  You may have heard of “Fibonacci sequence” or the golden ratio which exists in nature with the arrangement of leaves, the seeds of a sunflower or proportions of the human body (Leonardo Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man), historically it has also been used in art and architecture. There is some research to show that this particular ratio is one of the reasons why we find nature so calming, as the proportions of the golden ratio are aesthetically pleasing and harmonious to the human eye.

So, without the maths dominating my creativity pursuits too much this year, I used the golden ratio and the angle of 137.5 degrees to compose my 3 creations for 2024.  I hope you enjoy them and when you view them, they make you feel calm and harmonious.  But more importantly as with all my artworks I hope they inspire conversations with you the viewer.
