Each piece I created in 2023 has a window and a bird flying out of it possibly representing new adventure or new beginnings. Each piece is inspired by events, conversations or interviews I’ve seen or listened to over the last 12 months. In producing them I hope they connect with you; the viewer and you interpret each artwork in your own way and perhaps it provokes further conversation.
Seeing the Light – was inspired from an exhibition at Auckland Art Gallery from “Tate with Light”. In this piece there is darkness in the room and light streaming in through the window. Representing dark moments in our lives. If we didn’t have the dark moments, then maybe we wouldn’t appreciate the light? The flower is peering from the dark to the light and the bird representing freedom once we see the light.
